A few weeks ago I began my morning with a massive cleanup of the kitchen. (I’m talking four dishwasher loads of dishes, dirty.) I was feeling a little overwhelmed and a little depressed, but thought I could start the project by clearing the dishwasher – my most despised job in the kitchen probably because of childhood trauma. I opened it up, and without any prompting or coaxing, Sophia came right over and cleared ALL of the silverware. I was so happy I thought I was going to cry.
(Yes, this is a skill we have been working on – she regularly clears her silverware and the spoons – but it usually takes a little convincing and a little coaching to stay on track. Not this time though.)
Thank you, sweetheart.
