Our Literary Enthusiast

We have always been impressed with Sophia's memorization skills.  Everytime she takes up a book to "read" -- as she does in the video below -- we can't help but think about so many other times her memory has astounded us.

My favorite memory was when she was about 18 months and Greg realized she had all her books memorized (promptly thereafter we started checking more books out from the library)!  It started with the book "If You Give a Mouse a Cupcake" -- a gift from Nama & Pop.

Greg:  He'll put them in his pail and try to pick it up,
Sophia: but it'll be too heavy.
Greg: He'll decide
Sophia: he needs to work out at the gym.
Greg:  First he'll
Sophia: warm up on the treadmill.
Greg: Then he'll
Sophia:  lift a weight or two.

(of course you need to imagine this dialogue with Sophia's inability to say "r"s as well as -- at 18 months -- not much annunciation -- yes, this story would be MUCH better if I had a video.)

So then we went on to the next book: Sesame Street's "The Post Office" (with slightly more complicated sentence structure)...

Greg: Your letter will be put on a
Sophia:  truck and taken to the sorting center.
Greg:  Then it will go to the
Sophia: airport and be loaded onto an airplane.
Greg:  The airplane will take the letter
Sophia: to the town where your cousin lives.

It's suffice to say that you are REMARKABLE Sophia Claire!  And here's the video of the most recent book she wanted to "read" to us -- the book is a library book called "Hide & Seek".  (We read it maybe a handful of times before taking this video.)
