This costume was inspired by Auntie Laura and Uncle Nic. The bride dress was gifted to her (among many other awesome costumes) by them for her birthday and she loves it. [Actually the first thing she said about the dress when she tried it on was, "This will be the perfect dress for Dan and Kaylan's wedding! Don't worry, she won't be wearing this.] Since she has been very excited about spoooooky (but not too spooky) Halloween things, she decided on ghost bride. She even said at one point, "Auntie Laura will looooove my costume because she is obsessed with spooky things." : )
Frankly, I wasn't sure she could pull it off. I thought for sure once her face was painted, she would be way too scared of herself. But she wasn't!
Trick-or-treating in downtown Whitefish started out really fun!
Her trick-or-treating partner, Ellie, was a little scared of her at first, and her other school friends we were clearly unnerved by Sophia's costume (although one 10 year-old boy walked by and said, "Whoa! That's an awesome costume!"), but she loved it!
However, we only completed about 1/4 of the street before Sophia declared that she wanted to save the candy for the rest of the kids and that she'd had enough! Basically she was frightened to tears (literally) of any costume with a scary mask. So we headed home and got ready for Ellie's family to come join us for the traditional spaghetti and meatballs. We also enjoyed this Halloween hors' deuvers which Sophia was SO excited about (thanks Pinterest!); meet Vegetable Skeleton:
This is awesome for so many reasons!
