When Sophia last caught a fish with Nama & Pop in Sunriver, Pop asked us to find one kid-friendly super-easy fishing spot where he could take Sophia in Montana. We found one! It turns out that the Department of Fish
& Wildlife stock many ponds in our area with fish
where kids get to keep one fish. A local calls them "one cast ponds" and it turned out to be true! Within
a half hour from getting out of the car Sophia landed this fish!
It
was a beautiful 14-inch feisty Rainbow Trout.
As Sophia (and Greg) reeled it in, it jumped way out of the water, and
once he was in our car in the plastic bag, he moved so much he broke the
bag. Sophia liked that a lot. She was excited to move him into a plastic Target bag. And even though it was past her nap
time [and she could barely keep her eyes open], she insisted on seeing her fish over and over again on our way home.
“Then
we came home and cooked the fish and then we ate it.” And it
was delish! Can't wait to fish with you Pop!
[This pond is about 2 minutes from Target and 10 minutes from our house. Again...we love the accessiblity of activities here!]
