Ski Girl

Well...she's skiing!

Our first day looked fun...

...but it was a LOT of work and a LOT of back pain.

We continued with about a week of yard skiing.  The reward for yard skiing: eating snow!  (Or "co" as Sophia has lovingly dubbed it.)

And...little by little....she can ski!!!!!  [With help.]  Nama even joined us for a ski weekend!

(Thanks for taking these great videos and pictures, Nama!)  : )
[Excuse me....I meant "bideos".]

She has even enjoyed ski dates with her best friend Ellie:

The thing about skiing with Sophia -- and probably any toddler -- is that she is VERY distractible.  Sometimes she will just decide to close her eyes, or look at a kid on a lift, or look up at the sky to try to find a bird.  I find myself yelling at her the whole way down (in reference to her snow plow): "Sophia!  What kind of pizza are you making?!  A cheese pizza!  CHEESE PIZZA!  Oh, are you making a sugar pepper pizza now?  SUGAR PEPPER PIZZA!"  Yes, I sound like a lunatic, but if I'm not a lunatic then she forgets she is skiing, acquires "spaghetti legs", and falls down -- and has the nerve to complain about it!  We even have a pizza song that we sing to keep the focus.

All in all, our goal of the year was to get Sophia excited about skiing and make it a positive experience.  We were surprised that we also just really enjoyed being out and having the family time together!

And!  What do you know?  On the last day of the season, she surprises us by learning how to turn!!!

10th time is the charm, I guess!!!

Can't wait for ski season again next year!  (For now it's time for the grizzlies to take their habitat back!)
