From Cork, we flew to the beautiful French Riviera, just outside of Nice to the old town of Antibes. (Although I probably told you that we were going to "Nib".)
It was very warm and sunny there!
So...what do you do if you are 5 years old and ALL of our luggage is lost in London? You go swimming in the Mediterranean in your birthday suit! (Not so easy for me and Greg.)
We went swimming just about every day at this beach. A highlight for me and Greg was getting to swim with my mom all the way out to the buoy!
We stayed in a charming bed and breakfast right in the heart of the old town.
Sophia loved checking our breakfast basket every morning. Spoiler alert: we enjoyed croissants every day! Yay!
Right across the courtyard, Nonna, Dado, and Grandma Ruth stayed in a beautiful apartment overlooking the beach, the old wall of the ancient city, and the bay. We loved spending time watching the beachcombers and the boats both day and night!
The old town in Antibes was super picturesque and walkable
complete with a beautiful daily outdoor market,
our favorite French Gelateria (it seems like an oxymoron, I know!),
and even a carousel!
We even made a little road trip to Venti Miglie, Italy for a pasta lunch! Though we were only in the country for about five hours, I was poignantly reminded of the reasons I love Italy -- the people, the language, the food, the peace of the old towns -- and why Italy drives me nuts -- the nonsensical roads, lack of signage, the absence of any place to park, the horrific traffic. However, the pasta was magnificent!
Dado did a wonderful job planning this AWESOME trip that we will ALWAYS remember!!! Thank you SO much Nonna and Dado for generously making this happen for all of us! Can't wait to be back in "old friendly France" with you!
