We had SO much fun tasting oil and vinegar in Portland...mostly because we realized that it was fun to play the guessing game with Sophia!
1 - Hand Sophia mystery vinegar (or oil)
2 - Sophia sniffs mystery vinegar
3 - Sophia dips pinky finger in it then licks to taste
4 - Thinks about it
5 - (Optional) Drinks the remainder
6 - Sophia successfully tells us mystery vinegar!!!
She successfully identified (among others) honey, coconut, mint (or "toothpaste" as she first said), and even just "regular" balsamic vinegar! I was surprised at how successful she was; and Greg is thrilled that we may be successfully developing her palette!
PS. She can tell the difference between Pecorino (which she does NOT like), Parmigiano, sharp cheddar....and she still loves the Basque cheese! : ) We went out to pizza a few months ago and we gave her a portion of salad. She wouldn't eat it because it had Pecorino on it. I thought it was Parmigiano, but instead of arguing with her, I went to confirm it with the chef, who confirmed that it was, in fact, Pecorino. (Darn that little stinkerino!)
