We got off the plane early Saturday morning and b-lined it to Ken's where we gorged ourselves on pastries and bought this loaf of bread for the extended family dinner that night:
It's hard to tell here, but the thing is 3 kilos!! (They didn't have anything bigger.) : ) It was so big, in fact, they had nothing to wrap it with so we used a discarded 50lb flour bag.
Sunday after Mass, we left Sophia with her cousins and had a Kiely Family outing to the wine country!
Much wine was consumed, but more fun was had.
Later that evening we enjoyed delicious homemade bbq pizza with Dan and Kaylan! This was followed by a trip to the park to ride the swings where we were happily distracted by the awesome fountain.
Monday we went to the "ma-quarium" -- I can't believe that place hasn't shut down yet -- which Sophia loved, of course. I didn't get any good pictures, but one ray kept coming to the surface to nudge her hand so she would touch its nose.
Then we met up with Grandma & Papa and the Fergs at Mashita for lunch where Sophia chowed down an adult serving (I kid you not; she ate as much as me) of chicken, rice, broccoli and "moo sauce". [When asked where she wanted to go in Portland, she answered "to eat moo chicken", so that's why we went!] Here, you can see we enjoyed the 10 minutes of sunshine we had for the week!
Monday we went to OMSI where Greg & my mom got some fun pictures of Sophia playing with a wind exhibit. (Obviously she wasn't having any fun at all!)
And then....my mom found Maddie's old butterfly costume. Once she found it, it rarely came off.
A highlight for me was being able to see Maddie and Sean a lot during the week. It was a highlight for Sophia too!
And here's a performance from our little harp player! [We are hoping not to encourage this particular musical instrument though.] : )
We miss you already Portland!!!
